Any one with student work permit is entitled to work for a maximum of 20 hours while on full time study, any thing more than that, is illegal and not allowed. Anyone that break this rule may face deportation after trial if caught.

Prior to 2006, international students with student work permit can only work 20 hours maximum off campus, after completing 6 months of full time study but since 2014. International student can now work 20 hours immediately their study begins and more hours while on break.

Perhaps due to some external pressures or needs, a student may be inclined towards working extra hours. This is a direct disobedience to the laid down rule and it could lead to deportation.

Students from an African can relate to this however ignorance to this rule is not an excuse, you have to be mindful of this while working and studying in Canada.
